Present Conjugation of Group 1 #
First, we need to remove the er to get the stem of the verb.
Example:
Accepter => Téléphon

Spelling Changes #
Verbs Ending in -CER #
Everything stays the same except when conjugated for Nous. This is to preserve the pronunciation of the “s” sound
Example:
Lancer: to Throw
Nous lançons
Verbs Ending with -GER #
Similar to verbs ending with -cer, we need to preserve the pronunciation of the soft “g” by adding an e after it. Again this only applies when conjugated for nous

Manger: to eat
Nous mangeons
Verbs Ending with -YER #
There are 2 options:
- Option 1: Replace Y with I in all conjugations except for nous and vous
- Option 2: Keep the Y for all conjugations
Verbs Ending with –AYER #
Can be conjugated with option 1 or option 2
Verbs ending with –OYER & –UYER #
Can only be conjugated with Option 1
